April 4. Jerel Law, lead pastor of Love Lake Norman, has a new youth novel coming out in May called “Evan Miller Is Waking Down: A Dreambending Novel.” The book will be available online at Amazon, Walmart, Target and Barnes and Noble, among others.

The dystopian, near-future novel takes place in City 47, where uniformity is celebrated, individuality is stamped out, and the Elders who run the government demand strict obedience to an ancient writing called the Primary Code. Fifteen-year-old Evan Miller has an increasingly disruptive secret—a powerful ability that has attracted the attention of the Elders. When disguising himself as ordinary is no longer an option, he’s forced to flee to the place he fears the most.

“It’s been said that good fiction is the truth inside the lie. I write fiction because it allows me to explore big, true ideas in creative ways,” Law says.

Law, who launched non-denominational Love Lake Norman seven years ago, is a prolific teen author and a pastor with thirty years of full-time ministry experience.

He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Masters of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Law began writing fiction as a way to encourage his three children’s faith to come alive.

Says Law: “My measuring stick with these books was, and has always been, ‘Will my kids like it? Will it help them see the world differently?”

There are five books in the Jonah Stone: Son of Angels series, published by HarperCollins—Spirit Fighter, Fire Prophet, Shadow Chaser, Truth Runner and Soul Tempter.

“Evan Miller is Waking Down” is $14.99 in paperback on Amazoneand $10.99 on Kindle.

Love Lake Norman meets at 10 am Sundays in the Cain Center for the Arts in downtown Cornelius.
