Construction on 23,000 sq. ft. school begins in October
Sept. 22. Construction on the 23,000 square foot LeafSpring School at 18100 Statesville Road gets under way in October. The private enterprise will offer nursery school, preschool, half day preschool, transitional and private kindergarten along with before- and after-school care.
The project is just north of the Cowboy Restaurant property, and includes two buildings, one 13,000 square feet and the other 10,000 square feet, on a 4.1 acre site.
The school is designed to accommodate about 160 children for pre-school and 200 for after-school care. There will be an onsite clinic called the Get Well Place staffed by a licensed nurse.
The previous property owner was represented by David Hodson of Properties of the Carolinas.
LeafSpring was represented by Rose Associates, based in Davidson.
“We are ecstatic to open a school in the wonderful town of Cornelius,” said LeafSpring Schools CEO Vance Spilman.
LeafSpring Schools has locations in Ballantyne and Matthews, as well as 10 locations across Virginia, Indiana and Texas.

How is the traffic going to be managed? Washam Elementary is up the block and traffic at the 21 and Bailey Road intersection is certainly a concern.
Thank you and I look forward to a response.
We understand your concern. There will be two ways to enter/exit LeafSpring School – Statesville and Washam Potts Road. LeafSpring is not a traditional school where drop off/pick for everyone is at the same time. Drop off/pick up is staggered based on programs and parents needs.
