The National Weather Service has put our area on notice for extremely cold weather this weekend. “Cold air will be moving in quickly Friday afternoon and evening, and not to be outdone, winds will be stout as well,” said forecaster Trisha Palmer. Saturday night’s low is expected to be around 16 degrees.

It won’t be quite as cold as Christmas 2022, but it will still meet cold wave criteria.

Make sure pets are inside, and be sure to secure outdoor faucets.  Running a faucet running slowly inside the home can prevent a burst pipe.

The good news is that by this time next week temperatures will actually be above normal.
