Oct. 13. The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce will host a two-hour candidate forum tonight at the Huntersville Town Hall, focusing on NC House District 92—the seat formerly held by Charles Jeter. The race now is between Chaz Beasley, a Democrat, and Danae Caulfield, a Republican.
The forum will be moderated by Callan H. Bryan, chairman of the chamber.
One stop/early voting will begin next week in Cornelius at Town Hall under a new schedule adopted by the county Board of Elections. Voters can cast their ballots starting Thursday Oct. 20 from 8 am to 7 pm weekdays, 10-6 Saturdays and 1-6 pm Sundays. The early voting will conclude at 1 pm Saturday Nov. 5.
For those who would rather wait until Election Day, Tuesday Nov. 8, polls in Cornelius will be open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm. There are four Election Day polling places in Cornelius: Community in Church Lutheran Church, 7621 Norman Island Drive; Jetton Park, 19000 Jetton Road; Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19920 Bethel Church Road, and Cornelius Town Hall. The LKN Chamber will hold a second candidate debate Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 7-9:00 pm at the Cornelius Town Hall featuring Republican House District 98 incumbent John Bradford and unaffiliated challenger Jane Campbell.
Board of Elections officials noted that they are involved in pending litigation so the early voting schedule is subject to change. They recommend that voters check back prior to October 20 at the county web site: www.charmeck.org/mecklenburg/county/BOE.
