The Lake Norman Chamber will host a candidate forum in Cornelius Tuesday, Oct. 10. The event will be moderated by Joshua Dobi, the chair of the Lake Norman Chamber Public Policy Division.
The event gets under way at 7 pm with a welcome from Mayor Chuck Travis. Because of the size of the field the 11 candidates for Town Board will be grilled in two sets, one starting at 7:05 pm and the second at 7:45 pm. The first set includes Ava Callender, Kurt Naas, William Rakatansky, Thurman Ross and Richard Stilwell. The second set includes Denis Bilodeau, Jim Duke, Michelle Ferlauto, Dave Gilroy, Tricia Sisson and Mike Miltich.
At 8:30 pm, the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board District No. 1 candidates will face off. They are incumbent Rhonda Lennon and newcomers Annette Albright and Jess Miller.
Attendees can submit their written questions.
“The local elected officials and our school board members we elect will make decisions which will have a profound impact on our local infrastructure including land use, transportation improvement, and schools. When we vote on election day, we need to select leaders who can balance the continued economic growth and vitality our business community has enjoyed with the land use decisions and insight into managed growth which makes Lake Norman an attractive region to relocate businesses and families,” said Bill Russell, president of the chamber.
