Celebrate America under the stars June 25

June 1. Cornelius PARC Department will host the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra for Symphony in the Park June 25 at Bailey Road Park. Music lovers of all ages are invited to come early and bring their picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy a free, outdoor summer pops concert.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. with children’s activities and concessions. Beer and wine will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting the Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists. A prelude act by Journey Church will kick off the evening of music at 6:45 p.m., and the Charlotte Symphony will play at 8:15 p.m. A fireworks show will immediately follow the symphony’s performance.

Mike McKay of WDAV 89.9 will emcee the evening. Parking is available in the park as well as at Bailey Middle and Hough High Schools, with free shuttle service beginning at 6 p.m.

Coolers are welcome, but no glass containers or bottles, smoking, pets, tents or open flames are allowed.
