Cain saw 15,000 attendees in its first year; gala is this Saturday

Jan. 2. [One year anniversary] It’s hard to believe, but it’s been one year since the Cain Center for the Arts opened in downtown Cornelius to rave reviews.

—Total attendance during the first year was 15,000, including all programs and town events.

—More than 200 volunteers supplemented nine full-time and four part-time staff members.

First anniversary gala

The Cain Center will hold a First Anniversary Gala featuring Broadway great Mandy Gonzalez on Saturday Jan. 6. Tickets to the black-tie optional celebration, with an open bar, stationed meal and performance, are $150 to $200.

Mandy Gonzalez possesses one of the most powerful and versatile contemporary voices of our time. She notably starred as Angelica in the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton”. She is best known for her emotional portrayal of Nina Rosario in the Tony Award winning, Lin-Manuel Miranda Broadway musical “In the Heights”, a role she originally created. She has also starred as Elphaba in the Broadway production of “Wicked”, blowing the roof off the theatre each night.
