Broker McMahon in serious condition after shooting

July 12. By Dave Yochum. A commercial real estate broker in Lake Norman remains hospitalized in serious condition after being shot in Troutman early Sunday morning.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Thomas McMahon was shot twice. He was found on a boat at the Safe Harbor Skippers Landing Marina on Perth Road.

Three people were arrested on-site, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

—Two women in their 20s have been charged with Felony Conspire to Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Misdemeanor Prostitution.

—A 30-year-old man was charged with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill, and Felony Conspire to Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Video footage, other evidence

Deputies obtained video footage as well as a semiautomatic pistol, three loaded magazines, and a “bag containing additional items” in the parking lot.

While questioning the three people at the sheriff’s office, investigators noticed differences in the statements and gathered information about activities that occurred prior to the three coming to the pier and the shooting taking place.

McMahon, a Troutman resident, was the long-time managing director of Sperry Van Ness, a leading commercial real estate brokerage in Lake Norman. Zillow shows the McMahon’s lakefront home in Troutman has been on the market for 11 days at $1.599 million.
