Bradford scores big in Peninsula/Precinct 242
Nov. 8. By Dave Vieser. [10:30pm] A strong showing in The Peninsula has helped Republican incumbent Representative John Bradford in the District 98 contest. Precinct 242 went 1,560 votes for Bradford, 510 for challenger Jane Campbell. Bradford forces were camped at Jack’s Corner Tap in Cornelius, where there was a festive mood. The atmosphere is quieter at Jane Campbell’s campaign night gathering at the Fox and Hound in Birkdale.
While it looked like the toll lanes would motivate voters, it was HB2 that turned House District 98’s contest into an actual race. Bradford initially looked likely to run unopposed, as no Democrat had filed to challenge him by the deadline.
U.S. Navy Capt. Jane Campbell, a Davidson College graduate, was spurred to run by her opposition to HB2 — and by Bradford’s sponsorship of the bill. Because the filing deadline had passed by the time HB2 became law, Campbell had to collect signatures to get on the ballot. She is running as unaffiliated, with the backing of the Democratic party.

A candidate with no pulse (for weeks) and a voter ID card with an R by the candidate’s name identifying them as a Republican would score big in Precint 242. See below so that you can understand the motiv behind this report from Cornelius Today. Until the public starts to recognize the shenanigans going on in our community between the politicians, the players, and their enablers we will not be able to change our political environment for the better.
**Community Field Note***
Friends, as election day is now over, a note to remember. Pay particular attention in the coming days/weeks to the local dishonest media and free papers in our community. Pay particularly close attention to how the storyline of the election is reported out by Dave Yochum’s Business Today and Cornelius Today papers in our area locally.
These papers have historically flown cover for the most corrupt and questionable politicians and their activities, members of the local political clique and their activities, and the Lake Norman chamber insiders, which go by the code name “business leaders”.
Some past examples: Jim Black the former speaker of the NC House who was indicted on public corruption charges and went to federal prison for five years. More recently Sen. Fletcher Hartsell Cabarrus county who was recently indicted on state and federal grand jury charges. The latest charges including mail and wire fraud, money laundering and campaign finance violations. Sure they might have reported something on this recently but the pactice over a number of years covering for these politicians and wrong doers is concerning.
Further, you have to ask why a local business and community publication has never confronted politician Thom Tillis, who is from this local community, to interview him due to his role and responsibility in being responsible for bringing the toll roads to our community. It’s almost as if there’s some level of coordination with these campaigns and politicians however there is no evidence of these publications registering as a political action committee or with the state board of elections.
Soon we’ll be connecting the dots locally and hi-lighting the politicians, the players, and usual suspects in our community who have created the problems over the years that we are now experiencing today as a community. Learn more at North Mecklenburg News on Facebook at
