Property records show the home is owned by Windoll Walker Gardner.

The incident began at 8:45 pm and ended about five hours later after chemical munitions were used. North Mecklenburg SWAT and negotiators were deployed but as time went on it was apparent the suspect was not going to surrender.

No officers returned fire, nor were any injured.

Lambert was charged with a variety of offenses, including possession of a firearm by a felon as well as assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer.

Davidson, Huntersville and Charlotte Mecklenburg police departments provided assistance to Cornelius police.

The victim was transported to the hospital for a laceration on his forehead that required 17 stitches.
