Bailey Middle theater teacher lands top statewide award

Emily Klingman: NCTAE top winner

Oct. 4. Emily Klingman, who teaches Drama/Theatre Arts to sixth through eighth graders at Bailey Middle School, has won the 2021 Educator of the Year Award from the NC Theatre Arts Educators. The award is given for achieving high standards, going beyond the call of duty to provide an exceptional program and showing passion and dedication to the theatrical arts profession.

Klingman leads the drama middle school professional learning community and plans the theatre professional development for theatre teachers in the district.

She has performed in many local theaters, including Theatre Charlotte and Davidson Community Players.

NCTAE is dedicated to meeting theatre teachers’ unique needs through professional development, networking and advocacy.
