Aktion Club members team up with Kiwanis for Thanksgiving meals

Nov. 23. The Kiwanis Aktion Club of Lake Norman raised $600 to provide Thanksgiving dinners for 20 local families in need. The project is part of the Kiwanis Club’s efforts to provide food for 200 families as well as $1,000 for the Loaves and Fishes program at Huntersville United Methodist Church.

The club has raised close to $7,400 so far.

Donnie Ellis, president of the Lake Norman Kiwanis Club, said he is “very proud” of the young men and women in the Aktion club.

“While limited because of the pandemic, they still conducted a project which helped feed Lake Norman families in need. The members are a dynamic group of people who care about their community and assisting families in distress,” Ellis said.

The Aktion club is composed of special needs adults who conduct programs and projects to better themselves and their community.

The project was spearheaded by ARC Advisor Steve McIlwaine and Club Advisor and Lake Norman Chamber President Bill Russell. For more information about the Aktion Club, contact Club Advisor Bill Russell at the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce at 704-892-1922 or email him at russell@lakenorman.org.
