The Hough football team remained undefeated Friday night with a 72-0 win over Garinger on Homecoming weekend.

The Huskies’ offense didn’t take the field for the game’s first four and a half minutes, as the defense and special teams helped build a 16-0 lead.

Freshman Cameron Jones returned the opening kickoff 75 yards. On the Wildcats’ next possession, Davion Jones blocked a punt and recovered the ball in the end zone just 1 minute, 58 seconds into the game.

On Garinger’s second possession, a mishandled snap on a punt resulted in a safety.

Hough’s offense took the field for the first time with 7 minutes, 35 seconds remaining in the first quarter at the Hough 45-yard line. The Huskies needed just four plays to march 55 yards, capped by a Jamarion Morrison rushing touchdown that extended the lead to 23-0.

Hough ran eight more offensive plays in the first quarter, scoring on a 20-yard touchdown run by Morrison and an Ethan Royal touchdown pass to Mason Pearsall-Brown to take a 37-0 lead.

The Huskies led 58-0 at the half added and another 14 points over the final two quarters to improve to 7-0 on the season.

It was the largest margin of victory for Hough since it beat Jay M. Robinson 73-0 in 2013.

Hough has three regular season games remaining and travels to South Mecklenburg on Friday night to take on the 3-4 Sabres, who are also 2-0 in conference play.
