Oct 24. By Ryan Moxon. After a string of blowouts in recent weeks, Hough faces a formidable opponent tonight in Charlotte as the Huskies take on Myers Park in a matchup likely to determine the Greater Charlotte 7A/8A Conference champion.
Hough is currently the top-ranked 8A team in the state in the latest Charlotte Observer rankings, while Myers Park is ranked No. 7. Both teams are 3-0 in conference play and wrap up the regular season next week against weaker opponents.
The Mustangs rely heavily on the ground game, led by senior running back Josh Falzarano, who is averaging more than 114 rushing yards per game behind a stout offensive line.
Myers Park’s defensive front has been strong this season, but it will face its toughest challenge yet against Hough. The Mustangs’ secondary will also be tested by Hough’s speed, but they will not have to contain senior wide receiver Tyran Evans, who is out for the second straight week with an injury.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools issued a new policy this season that limits ticket sales at certain “high-profile” football games during the regular-season, but tonight’s matchup did not receive that designation.
Tickets cost $8 on the Home Team app and the game will be live streamed on NFHS Network.
