Weekender: Halloween is coming

Oct. 23. Here’s a look at some exciting things happening this weekend around Lake Norman. Check event links for any last-minute updates or changes.

Friday Oct. 24

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

7:30 pm | Oct. 24. Enjoy their signature blend of swing, jazz, and Dixieland, performed with high-energy flair and a deep respect for America’s musical roots. Pricing from $63.43 to $83.53. Cain Center for the Arts.

Live Under the Oaks

6-8 pm | Oct. 24. Live entertainment. Bring your chairs or blankets. The Plaza, Birkdale Village.

Saturday, Oct. 25

Davidson Farmers Market

9 am – noon | every Saturday through Thanksgiving. Produce, flowers, meat and baked goods.Rain or shine. No pets. 120 S. Main St., Davidson, next to Town Hall between Main and Jackson streets.

Trick or Treat at Birkdale Village

10 am to 12 pm | SPOOK-tacular Halloween celebration for the kids Come dressed in your costumes and trick or treat at Birkdale Village’s participating retailers and restaurants. Candy available from participating businesses while supplies last. The Parkway at Birkdale Village.

Collector’s Vault Statesville Toy and Collectibles Con

10 am – 4 pm | Oct. 25. 120 tables of  Hotwheels, anime, comics, Tonka, model kits, cosplayers, sports cards, NASCAR, diecast cars, action figures, Pops and cosplay contest at 1 pm. Statesville Civic Center.

Trunk or Treat

4 pm | Oct. 25. Come dressed in your favorite costume for an evening of treats, fun and community joy — all in a safe and inclusive space for all children. Free family fun and sensory-friendly. Gisele’s World, 20310 W. Catawba Ave., Cornelius.

Halloween Treat Trail

5:30-8 pm | Oct. 25. Local businesses will hand out prepackaged candy to kids (ages 12 and under) in their silly or scary costumes! Families can also enjoy festive games, crafts, and activities. Free for residents, $3 for non-residents; pre-registration opens September 29. Bailey Road Park.

Tell Me Lies: The Fleetwood Mac Experience

7:30 pm | Oct. 25. With an unwavering commitment to authenticity and a deep respect for their craft, Tell Me Lies meticulously recreates the beloved sounds and visuals of one of the world’s most adored best-selling bands. Pricing from $41.83 to $63.43. Cain Center for the Arts.

Lights, Camera, Birkdale

7:30 pm | Oct. 25. Hocus Pocus. Seating is first come, first serve. Attendees are encouraged to bring additional blankets and chairs. No outside food or beverage is permitted, but takeout from onsite restaurants is encouraged. Coolers are prohibited. Events are subject to cancellation pending weather conditions. The Plaza, Birkdale Village.
