Oct. 20. By Dave Vieser. The highlight of Monday evening’s Cornelius Town Board meeting will be consideration of numerous changes to the town’s personnel policy, which was originally adopted in December 1999.

The personnel policy serves as a guiding document to ensure consistency in employment practices, provide direction to employees and set standards that impact recruitment and retention.

“Updates to the personnel policy include new policies for telecommuting and parental leave, and enhanced existing leave policies,” said Human Resources Director Andrea Klemmer. “This update also addresses practices that have grown outdated due to the age of the document and changes in available technology.”

At Monday’s meeting, commissioners will also consider updates to town policy concerning the use of golf carts, as well as the official budget adoption calendar for fiscal year 2027, which begins July 1, 2026.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Cornelius Town Hall. It will also be live streamed on the town’s website at www.cornelius.org.
