Oct. 17. Mona’s Deli Fest returns this Sunday to give Lake Norman a taste of authentic Jewish deli favorites in a festive atmosphere. The culinary tradition will be held from noon to 3 p.m Oct. 19 on the green in downtown Davidson and attendance is free.
The annual event, hosted by the Jewish Council of Lake Norman, is all about the food — traditional, kosher-style and delicious. Attendees can enjoy New York–style deli sandwiches with coleslaw and pickles, hot potato knishes from Brooklyn, and traditional desserts.
The main menu features corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, as well as a falafel platter for $12. Matzo ball soup will be available for $8, knishes for $5, and Hebrew National hot dogs for $3. Bakery items — including mandelbread, babka and rugelach — are $4 each.
The deli fest was founded by former Council Chair Mona Lieberman and renamed in her honor after she passed away in 2022. Her husband, Gary, is still in charge of mixing up the authentic egg creams that sell for $4 each at the event.
The festival also includes arts and crafts, jewelry and gift vendors, along with contests for the best pickles and kugel. Entertainment will feature music from Bandana Klezmer and traditional Jewish dancing with Steven Weintraub.
Hello,
Will alcohol be available at the Jewish event in Davidson.
Thank you,
