Oct. 10. The weather forecast looks great for sailors and parents looking to fly kites with the kids this weekend. If you’re planning a trip to the beach you might want to pivot and head to the mountains. The nor’easter slamming the East Coast is expected to dump anywhere from four to ten inches of rain on North and South Carolina beaches but the Piedmont will stay dry and windy.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 70. North northeast wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Saturday night 20 percent chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. North wind around 9 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 73. North northeast wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Sunday night partly cloudy, with a low around 55.
Next week: Highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
