Bailey pickleball complex official opening rained out

The ceremony was postponed due to rain and is being rescheduled

Sept. 26. The wait is over for Lake Norman pickleball players, who will finally gain access to the brand-new, 10-court pickleball complex at Bailey Road Park this weekend.

Cornelius Parks and Recreation will hold a grand opening ceremony Saturday morning to officially open the facility. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to be attended by town staff, elected officials and members of local pickleball organizations, including Lake Norman Pickleball, which will manage the complex under a new partnership with the town.

Following the dedication, Lake Norman Pickleball will host its fourth annual Fall Classic. Details on registration are available here.

The ceremony and tournament will be held weather permitting.

The new 12-court tennis complex at Bailey Road Park will have its official opening ceremony Oct. 21.

Together, the 12 lighted tennis courts and 10 lighted pickleball courts make Bailey Road Park one of the largest collections of courts in the Charlotte area.

The town of Cornelius contributed $2.5 million of the $3.4 million cost to build the Bailey Road Court Complex. The remainder came from grants, fees and donations.
