Peninsula Community Foundation reports nearly $250,000 in contributions last year

PCF Board of Directors

Jan. 24. Thanks to the Emerald Gala in November as well as donations throughout the year, the Peninsula Community Foundation was able to raise—and give away—almost $250,000 in 2022.

Grants were given to local nonprofits like Bags of Hope, Ada Jenkins, Neighborhood CARE, YMCA camp scholarships, the Lake Norman Community Health Clinic, Bright Blessings, Make A Wish, Cool Kids Clubhouse, Hope House and Senior Community Connections.

“The gala’s success was a team effort,” according to George Searle, PCF president, “but it couldn’t have happened without the exemplary leadership of Pam Varghese, the gala chair.” Click here for pictures from the gala.

The donations of a variety of services and liquor kept expenses to a minimum—so all but food and beverage cost went to local non-profits, according to Caroline Stevens, PCF head of communications.

The new year began with a planning meeting early this month, with board members envisioning the year ahead, planning donor appreciation cocktail parties, onsite visits to each local charity, outreach to new nonprofits and various non-monetary ways to support each charity it serves.
