The Venue could gain Town Board OK at today’s meeting

Venue pre-development rendering

By Dave Vieser. Rezoning which would permit the construction of a five-story, mixed-use building in downtown Cornelius is the big thing on tonight’s Town Board agenda. The Planning Board has already unanimously recommended approval of The Venue which will have up to 75 apartment units and 6,000 square feet of ground floor retail, restaurant, commercial and office space.

The site is a short walk from the Cain Center for the Arts, currently under construction.

Development officials suggested that it would be several years before the project is built. A key component in the process will be improvements at the Hickory Road/Highway 115 intersection, including the installation of a new traffic signal.
