RNC move to Jacksonville ‘devastating’
June 12. The Charlotte 2020 Host Committee is officially acknowledging that the RNC is Florida-bound after just one day in Charlotte for a business meeting. The Host Committee made this statement:
“Confirmation by the city of Jacksonville that the Republican National Convention has moved is devastating news for the thousands of people who live in our community and work at our hotels, entertainment venues and small businesses expecting a boost from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our good faith efforts to carry out our obligations under agreements made two years ago have been met with broken promises and disregard of the significant commitment from many partners across our region. We need to stop pretending there’s any part of the convention that will remain in Charlotte. Unfortunately, the convention has moved to Jacksonville due to decisions beyond our control.”

Total disregard for the people of this city. The money will go to the overwhelming amount of covid cases that we will be left with so take a bow for destroying this city god nothing. He’s never going to win anyway and your just going to make us all sick so thanks a lot
The blame lies entirely on the shoulders of the Democratic governor of this state. One and done, Coop, for destroying the hard work done by the committee for bringing this gem of an economic impact to this region. Don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way out in November!
Yay! Governor Cooper cares more about our wellness and health of citizens vs. having a dog-and-pony show where thousands will be smashed together, without masks.I am sure Jacksonville citizens will be reeling with the health aftermath for a very long time after this convention. Good riddance, RNC!
Could not agree with you more!! I am so proud of Gov. COOPER for his handling of this whole pandemic! Keep Trump and his cronies out of here!! Who needs them, and hopefully after Nov., Trump will be gone, and our Nation can begin the healing process from 4 years of this psychopath!!!
I’m sorry but so many people and willing to put their full trust and faith in Gov Cooper and his excuses to based on ‘science’. He’s costing thousands and jobs and businesses lost with this fear that is being dribbled out by his administration.
Sorry citizens, but he will not get my vote again.
What? Donald Trump is not going to keep his contractual commitment? What a shock! ?
The gov is just playing politics by not accomodating the RNC. He is hurting the Charlotte economy just to pander to left-wing nutjobs (that are all over this site..) Someday you folks will learn to appreciate a strong leader that is not to be messed with.
All you self serving people that do not care about charlotte and the hard working people and businesses of the community. You would put your politics before feeding small business owners and the workers of the city. 200 million goes a long way to helping our economy. You were ok when the Democrats came because it agreed with your politics. And the economy got a boost. But this is all about your politics and you could give a dame about people suffering for the economic hit we have all taken. Charlotte had a chance to be center stage and show the country what a great city we have. Well now you can have it to yourself. And watch great business suffer because of your self centered arrogance.
