COVID cases, deaths still climbing

COVID-19 in Mecklenburg: 1098 cases, 21 related deaths.

April 17. Two more Mecklenburg residents have died from COVID-19, bringing the death count to 21, as Mecklenburg County experiences “significant community spread” of the coronavirus.

The death count is up from a total of 12 reported deaths as of Monday, 15 as of Tuesday, 16 by Wednesday and 19 as of Thursday at 11 am.

There are a total of 1,098 diagnosed cases in Mecklenburg, up from 1,052 yesterday and 993 on Wednesday. The change from Thursday’s count to today was 4.37 percent.

Mecklenburg County residents remain under a County Stay at Home Order and a State of North Carolina Stay at Home order. The looming, overwhelming nature of COVID-19 of three and four weeks ago has changed.

At 11 am Thursday statewide, there were 5,859 cases of COVID-19 statewide reported by the NC Dept. of Health & human Services as of 11 am today, up from 5,465 yesterday.

There have been 152 COVID-19 deaths, up from 131 reported by the NCDHHS yesterday. As of 11 am Wednesday: 5,123 COVID-19 cases and 117 deaths.

Meanwhile, a medical emergency is still an emergency even during a pandemic.

It’s important to react quickly to the symptoms of serious illness or injury.

Don’t hesitate to visit an Urgent Care or Emergency Room if you are experiencing life-threatening symptoms.
