CookHouse

Aug. 14. By Dave Vieser. Renovations at the old CookHouse restaurant in the Shops on the Green are under way, but final plans are still up in the air.

Owner Andrew Sheridan of Huntersville purchased the building after the popular Greek restaurant closed in 2021. He planned an Irish pub, but explained this week that a different type of operation is more likely.

A major rehab

Crews have been busy “putting it back together as a functional restaurant,” Sheridan said.

“With over 30 years of use, the mechanical aspects of the building–including HVAC, electrical components and plumbing–all had to be completely rebuilt,” he said.

Sheridan said he has been approached by several potential businesses interested in the building, including a cleaner and dog kennel.

Quotable

“I said thanks, but no thanks. I really believe this part of Cornelius can use another eatery,” he said.

He hopes to have an announcement by late September and to open by year’s end.

County tax records show that the 22,710 square foot building has an assessed value of $1.2 million.

So glad this is going to remain a restaurant. It really is a neat area with El Toro, the Indian and Italian places and Proceuttos.

It could have one terrific outdoor terrace area (like H & C which we love too!) Perfect location, size, and parking lot. Great pub on this corner of town- yes! Better yet, bring a second location of Joe Fish in…….now you’re talking, and the owner lives in one of our Cornelius communities! Win win!

Still miss the Cook House. Was our go-to for a great home cooked breakfast at a reasonable price!

We need a great breakfast place!!! It’s what’s missing here-all the other places are trying to be too ‘culinary’🙄
