Feb. 3: Comedy night at Lost Worlds Brewing

Trying to figure out what to do? This calendar, published weekly on Mondays, can point you to some of the best options in Lake Norman.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Jan. 31, Feb. 1 and 3

Open Track Nights on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays

6-8 pm. James Hoyt Wilhelm Park’s 1/4-mile walking track will be lighted on Mondays and Bailey Road Park’s regulation track will be lighted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both open to the public.

Feb. 2

History Forum: Kendrick K. Kelley Presentations 

7-9 pm.  Lecture. Adriel Vazquez Martinez, Elsa Conklin, and Ross Hickman will share findings from their thesis research. Attend  in-person or via Zoom . WOKatson Life Sciences Building Classroom-140 Blue, Davidson College.

Feb. 3

Live standup comedy 

8 pm. EJ Nonstop is headliner.  Tickets ($15 advance or $20 at door) are on sale now online  – and will be available soon in person at Lost Worlds Brewing Co. One Norman Blvd., Cornelius.

Sarah Jackson Exhibition Presentation-Reception 

4:30 6 pm.  An opening reception with Sarah Jackson ’22. Artists talk will be presented in-person and via Zoom. To attend by Zoom please RSVP. A reception will follow the presentation. Visual Arts Center VAC-117 Semans Lecture Hall, Davidson College.

6th Annual Prehealth Professions Symposium Virtual Keynote Part I: “Just Make it Clearer!”: The Art and Science of Health Communication

3-4 pm. Lecture. Adriana Arcia, ’97, PhD, RN, Associate Professor of Nursing at CUMC has done research on tailored health infographics, information visualization, consumer health informatics, patient education, and low health literacy as a health disparity. Feb. 5

Finding the right college for you

1-1:45 pm. Davidson College will hold a virtual workshop for high school juniors (and interested parents and mentors) to help find the right fits among colleges and universities. The session will provide insight on how to sift through thousands of colleges and universities so that you can create a thoughtful and intentional list of institutions. For info, contact Kyle Dembart. Admission Intensive: College Application and Financial Aid Basics 

2:30 3:15 pm. Join this session to learn about the basics for admission and financial aid, including: types of applications, application timelines, commonly required documents, an overview for how to apply for financial aid, how to determine what a college actually costs, and common terms associated with the college and financial aid processes. Intended audience: High School juniors and mentors. Register for this workshop.

Davidsons Farmers Market 

9 am – noon. Winter Market.

Cardio Funk 

9-10 am. Saturdays. This high-energy class takes place at Bailey Road Recreation Center. $5/class or $40 for a 10-class pass. pay at the door.

Open Gym Senior Pickleball 

1-3 pm Sundays at JV Washam Recreation Center.
