Weekly Agenda June 13-19: Concerts, fireworks, Juneteenth celebrations

Trying to figure out what to do? This calendar, published weekly on Mondays, can point you to some of the best options in Lake Norman.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

June 13

Cardio Funk 

6:30-7:30 pm Mondays. Drop in for this high-energy class at Bailey Road Recreation Center. $10 per class, pay at the door.

June 14: Restaurant benefit at Sabi Asian Bistro

Restaurant night benefit at Sabi

Sabi Asian Bistro, 130 Harbour Place Drive, Davidson, will donation a portion of proceeds to Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Carolinas.

On Tap

7:30 pm. The Charlotte Symphony’s  On Tap series returns this summer for performances at Cabarrus Brewing,  329 McGill Ave. NW, Concord. $20. Seating is general admission with limited seating available on a first come, first served basis. Patrons are welcome to bring lawn chairs.

Be Well Birkdale 

6-7 pm free workout class. Check in starts at 5:45 pm. Workout class by various studios and instructors. Don’t forget your mat. You’ll receive a punch card during your first class and if you come to four Be Well Birkdale classes, you get a special prize. The Grove across from Kilwins, Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Huntersville Growers’ Market 

9 am – 1 pm Tuesdays at the Novant Hospital parking lot, 10003 Gilead Road.

Adult Open Gym Basketball 

6:30 to 9 p.m. Adults may drop in on Tuesdays for basketball at Bailey Road Recreation Center, 11536 Bailey Road, inside Bailey Middle School.  Ages 18 and older. Free.

There are pickleball open play opportunities just about every day of the week in Cornelius.

Pickleball Open Play 

5-8 pm. Cornelius Parks & Recreation and Lake Norman Pickleball Association are now offering Pickleball Open Play at Robbins Park, 17738 West Catawba Ave. Players of all skill levels are welcome, Participants will need to bring their own paddle. This is a free, drop-in program; no registration is required.

June 15 

Birkdale Buds 

10:30 am- noon. Crafts. Bring your pre-school aged child for playtime in the Grove. Weekly activities may include face painters, storytellers, magicians, arts and crafts.  Crafts and activities will be available while supplies last. Bring a blanket to sit on. Free. The Grove across from Kilwins in Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Music Bingo

7 pm. Royal Bliss Brewing, 7532 Royal Bliss Ct., Denver.

June 16

LalaCaboosa Downtown Music Series 

6 – 9 pm. Indian Outlaw The Band, a Tim McGraw tribute band. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food and beer trucks on site. Veterans Park at Main & Maxwell, 201 Huntersville-Concord Road,  Huntersville.

June 16: Pluto for Planet performs at LangTree Lake Norman

6-9 pm. Pluto for Planet. LangTree Lake Norman, 401 Langtree Road, Mooresville.

Join the Lake Norman Bridge Center 

12:30-4pm Thursdays at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave., if you have an interest in learning the game of bridge or want to develop your playing, bidding, and defense skills. All ages and skill levels are welcome. $5 per day, pay at the door.

Live Under the Oaks 

6 to 8 pm. Heroes at Last. A bar will be onsite in the designated area provided by Red Rocks Cafe. Please bring your own lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

June 17-18

Women’s Chorus of Charlotte presents: Steppin’ Out 

7:30 pm.  Inaugural concert. $35 & $25 – adults;  $25 & $20 – seniors (65+); $20 & $15 – students;  $10 – children 14 and younger (with purchase of an adult, senior, or student ticket). St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1510 E. 7th St., Charlotte.

June 18

Fireworks will cap the June 18 Charlotte Symhony concert at Bailey Road Park.

“Junion”

The program features the Reunion Project  with guest speaker, Andre’ Kearns, a descendent of enslaved ancestors from the Torrance and Kerns plantations. Hugh Torance House & Store, 8231 Gilead Road, Huntersville.

Concerts @ the Circles 

5-6:30 pm acoustic artist; 7 pm 80Z Nation, 80s tribute. Jetton Street by Clean Juice, Davidson.

Juneteenth Jubilee 

10 am – 2 pm. African food, dance, design and traditions. Celebrate Black culture. Face painting, arts and crafts, music and family-friendly. David B. Warmer Recreation Center, 14008 Holbrooks Road, Huntersville.
