Weekend Agenda: April 22-24

Here are some events this weekend. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Friday, April 22

Davidson College Concert Series: Marcus Thompson, viola

7 – 8:30 pm. Recital by violist, Marcus Thompson, viola faculty at the New England Conservatory, University Professor at MIT, Artistic Director of the Boston Chamber Music Society, and the first African American to be awarded at doctorate from the Juilliard School. For tickets, call the Union Box Office at 704-894-2135. Free for Davidson students, but tickets are required. Sloan Music Center Tyler-Tallman Recital Hall, Davidson College.

April 22: Delta Fire performs at Lake Norman Brewery

Live music

7 pm. Delta Fire is an astonishing cover band that covers soul, rock, pop and country. Lake Norman Brewery, 1753 Triangle Circle, Denver.

Alex Nikolaidis Konstas ’22 Exhibition Presentation and Reception

4-6 pm. Opening reception with Alex Nikolaidis Konstas ’22. Artist’s talk will be presented in-person and via Zoom. To attend by Zoom please RSVP. A reception will follow the presentation. Visual Arts Center VAC-117 Semans Lecture Hall, Davidson College.

April 22: Davidson Gallery Crawl

Gallery Crawl 

6-9 pm. Artists display their work in Davidson’s establishments on Main Street over to South Main Street and at the Circles @ 30. Galleries, businesses and town hall host visiting artists, including some that will be featured at Art on the Green April 23-24. Refreshments and music enhance the festivities.

10 am-5 pm Saturday downtown Davidson.

Tawba Walk Arts & Music Festival

2-8 p.m. A Tawba Walk is a multidimensional, eclectic art crawl, which snakes through the heart of Cornelius, featuring dozens of local vendors, live street performances, shopping, amazing food and more, showcasing the best Cornelius and the surrounding areas have to offer.

April 23: Jazz Concert Series featuring Marlow Rosado

Jazz Concert Series

5-8 pm. Grammy Winner Marlow Rosado, Latin jazz/salsa. Veterans Park at Main & Maxwell, 201 Huntersville-Concord Rd. Huntersville.

Regina Carter with the Jazz Ensemble

7:30-9 pm. Final jazz concert of the year features Regina Carter, a legendary jazz artist and the unparalleled icon of jazz violin. For tickets, call  the Union Box Office at 704-894-2135. Knobloch Campus Center DFPH-Duke Family Performance Hall, Davidson College.

Davidson Farmers Market

9 am- noon. 120 S. Main St., Davidson. Rain or shine, No pets please.

Earth Day celebration

9 am – noon. Visit the Davidson Earth Day Fair  at the Davidson Farmer’s Market.

Sunday, April 24

April 24: Cornelius Woof Walk

Woof Walk

10-11 a.m. Participants can expand their and their dog’s routine by walking approximately 1.5 miles of waterfront trails at Jetton Park. Event is free, but advance registration is required.

Art-on-the-Green 

Noon to 4 pm Sunday downtown Davidson.

WDAV Young Chamber Musicians Competition

3-5 pm. Four of the nation’s most talented young chamber ensembles compete in in the finals of WDAV Classical Public Radio’s annual Young Chamber Musicians Competition. For tickets, call the Union Box Office at 704-894-2135. Knobloch Campus Center DFPH-Duke Family Performance Hall, Davidson College.

Local Vendor Market

1-5 pm. Royal Bliss Brewing is hosting  their first Local Vendor Fair of the season, co-hosted by @makersmarketclt in the beer garden. 7532 Royal Bliss Court, Denver.

Charity Cornhole Tournament

2-7 pm. $25 Registration fee goes towards the Zeta Tau Alpha charity providing breast cancer education and awareness. Primal Brewery. 16432 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville.
