Aug. 11. The recent rainfall has closed the gap but we’re still roughly two inches below average in total rainfall this year. The USGS rain gauge located on Norman Shores has recorded about 25 inches of rain year this year compared to the average of 27 inches by mid-August.
Our average annual rainfall is around 45 inches so if you do that math we’re probably looking at a wet fall. Last week the the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration updated it’s hurricane season forecast, predicting a 50% chance of an above-normal season, a 35% chance of a near-normal season and a 15% chance of a below-normal season.
