June 16. The 2025 Hemmings Motor News Great Race stops in Mooresville June 28. The premiere old car rally features more than 100 antique automobiles during a nine-day, 2,300-mile event.

The race starts in St. Paul, Minn., on Saturday, June 21, and ends in Irmo, SC on Sunday, June 29.

There are more than 500 people in the entourage, a boon for downtown Mooresville.

Arrival downtown is set for 5:25 pm but there is a pre-arrival ceremony at 5:10 pm.

Background

The Great Race is a time/speed/distance rally. The vehicles, each with a driver and navigator, are given precise instructions each day that detail every move down to the second. They are scored at secret checkpoints along the way and are penalized one second for each second either early or late. The lowest score wins.
