March 26. At a sold-out meeting, the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce recognized two individuals who have gone the extra mile for the Lake Norman region. Outgoing Board Chair Douglas Marion recognized Robin Smith Salzman, founder of the Giving with Grace Foundation, with the Citizenship and Service Award.

Scott T. Fletcher, manager of natural resources for Duke Energy, sponsor of the award, said her dedication extends beyond her immediate community.

“She has been a driving force behind charitable endeavors such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation Wish Ball, where as event chair for the past two years, was able to raise a cumulative total of more than $3.6 million, surpassing all previous galas,” Fletcher said.

She was the co-owner of Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep with her husband Jack Salzman for 20 years.

The chamber also recognized Lisa Mayhew Jones from the Smithville Community Coalition with the Community Service Award for her outstanding work in the community.

She was the volunteer chair of the Smithville Community Coalition for 11 years from 2011 until August 2022 and led the development and articulation of a multi-year strategy as a volunteer that mobilized the town government and residents.
