Jan. 8 – Registration is now open for Mecklenburg County’s 2026 Senior Games and SilverArts, an Olympic-style competition running March through May for residents 50 and older.

The event features more than 50 athletic and artistic competitions, from swimming and pickleball to visual arts and cheerleading.

Athletic events include bowling, cycling, golf, swimming, track and field, cornhole, horseshoes, bocce, tennis, badminton and pickleball. SilverArts includes literary arts, visual arts, performing arts, heritage arts and cheerleading.

“Whether you’re 55 or 95, there’s an event for you,” said Nick Walker, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation director.

Top finishers can advance to the state finals in fall 2026 and national games in 2027.

Early registration runs through Jan. 23. County residents pay $20 online or $25 in person. Nonresidents pay $23 online or $28 in person. Fees increase by $10 during standard registration from Jan. 24 to Feb. 20.
