Aug. 11. Ramsey Creek Beach was closed for the weekend due to elevated bacteria levels and retesting was expected to take place on Monday, Mecklenburg County announced on Friday. As of Tuesday morning there were no updates posted to the county website or social feeds.
The bacteria was identified during a routine weekly check of the beach’s water quality by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services. In a statement the county said that elevated level was likely a result of recent heavy rains.
Information regarding updates on the beach closing will be posted on Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation’s social media pages and ParkandRec.MeckNC.gov.
The playground and picnic areas at Ramsey Creek Park are still open to the public.
Sure would like to see the report published..Would like to know (specifically) the type of bacteria determined to be present in the water..
