ElectriCities says power out around Bailey Road in Cornelius

The Friday morning power outage had police officers directing traffic at Bailey Road and Hwy 115.

Sept. 24. UPDATED. The Bailey Road area is without power due to a broken pole, according to ElectriCities, the town-owned power company in parts of Cornelius and Huntersville.

The power outage occurred near the Foamex plant, and affects residences, businesses, traffic lights and Hough High.

Update 1:30 pm: ElectriCities says power will likely be restored by 2:30 pm.

What happened:

A telecommunications company on the pole did not have enough slack which caused major stress on the pole and the pole to break.

Neighborhoods affected include Bailey’s Glen, Starcreek and Treynorth.

At 8:30 am ElectriCities said it could take several hours forĀ  power to be restored.

The Antiquity area was also affected, but power has been restored there.
