Pool rentals on Swimplyy
July 16. Why own a swimming pool when you can rent one? Swimming pools, which are known for maintenance and low payoffs when it comes to selling your home, can now be rented out legally.
A new law allowing North Carolina homeowners to rent pools by the hour via apps like Swimply went into effect July 1.
Mecklenburg Health recommends owners:
Test and maintain water chemical levels.
Keep the pool area safe with proper signage.
Have proper life-saving equipment such as reaching poles and life rings.
Secure the pool with fencing and barriers to prevent unsupervised access.
Have properly fitted submerged suction covers.
Have a pool deck area with nonslip surfaces.
It’s all voluntary:
Meck Public Health is not enforcing the recommendations, and no permit is needed. Swimply is one website where you can find private pools and book one to rent, ranging anywhere from $40 to nearly $200 an hour.
Homeowners should check with their insurance agent before diving in.
