July 30. The Cornelius Police Department and Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream will host Cone with a Cop today from 3 to 4 p.m. Families are invited to stop by for a scoop of their favorite flavor and a chance to chat with local officers in a friendly setting.

Handel’s is located at 20545 Torrence Chapel Road in the Shops at Fresh Market complex.

“Join the Cornelius Police Department and celebrate safer, stronger neighborhoods together,” said Jeff Jones, a citizen volunteer with CPD. “Our officers continue to live out their ‘Family Strong, Community Focused’ motto through neighborhood crime prevention programs, our biannual Citizens Academy, and other community events.”

Next up is National Night Out on Aug. 5 at Bailey Road Park, in partnership with Cornelius Parks & Recreation. The free annual event promotes community safety and crime prevention while offering an evening of family fun, including children’s activities, food, entertainment and more.
