Now there’s a 7th candidate for Town Board

July 15. Michael DeVoney, of Tailwind Lane in Cornelius, has filed to run for Town Board, joining six others who are running for the five-person commission. The business executive, a leader in the North Meck Democratic party, could not be reached for comment.

As of 11:15 am Tuesday, there are seven declared candidates, including incumbents Robert Carney, Susan Johnson, Michael Osborne and Todd Sansbury, as well as a newcomer to local politics, John Caldwell, and DeVoney.

Candidate filing for the municipal elections opened July 7 and will run through Friday, July 18 at noon.

  1. Wow! Cornelius is so fortunate! He is a fantastic person. I hope citizens recognize what a wonderful candidate he is.
