April 1. By Dave Vieser. Due to the high cost of diesel fuel, which powers much of the trucking business, Norfolk & Southern is reactivating the freight line which runs from Charlotte north into Cornelius and Mooresville—with battery-powered engines.

Trains could be up to 100 cars, in light of strong interest from manufacturers. The first one is expected to depart Charlotte at 7:30 am Monday, reaching the Bailey Road grade crossing in Cornelius between 7:45 and 8:30 am.

CMS said they will look at bell schedule at Hough High and Bailey Middle School in time for the 22-23 school year.
