New car dealership planned for Chartown

The first of two public hearings on a rezoning which could clear the way for expansion of Lake Norman Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep in Cornelius along Chartown near I-77 will be conducted Monday Feb. 1, beginning at 6 pm. The expansion, on 30 acres of vacant land, would include a new showroom and an off-road vehicle demonstration area.

The expansion and rezoning request has been submitted by DB Automotive Real Estate Holdings; the dealership is owned and operated by Jack and Robin Salzman.

—Just south of Life Fellowship Church.

—46,800 square foot vehicle sales dealership, an off-road vehicle demonstration area, a boat sales dealership and a building to be utilized as flex space.

—75 new jobs.

—Completion approximately August of 2022.

—The existing facility on Torrence Chapel will be devoted to used cars.

The veteran auto dealer has already met with several property owners adjacent to the proposed project. “Based upon their feedback we plan on adjusting the project accordingly,” Jack Salzman said.

Due to current state COVID-19 regulations, the public hearing, which begins at 6 pm in Town Hall, will also be conducted via Zoom.
