MLK Jr. Day festivities at the Cain Center

Jan. 16 – The town of Cornelius will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration Monday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Cain Center for the Arts.

Award-winning journalist Tonya Rivens, a Cornelius resident, will serve as emcee. Speakers include the Rev. Dr. Aaron Moore of Bethel Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Marlowe of Mt. Zion UMC, and Cornelius Mayor Denis Bilodeau.

The keynote speaker will be Brian Wofford, president of Atrium Health Lake Norman, with performances by the Queen City Jazz Group and The Place Church Worship Dance Ministry.

The program is free and open to all ages.

Lunch will be provided by BJ’s Grill on a first-come, first-served basis following the program in the Woody Washam Community Room in Town Hall.

The event is held in partnership with the Ausie & Martin Rivens Scholarship Foundation.
