June 25. Stay dry when you’re boating over the Independence Day holiday, local police warn. During the annual Operation Dry Water July 4-6, law enforcement officers will be on heightened alert for those violating boating under the influence laws.

Registration is open for local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies that would like to participate.
What’s happening:
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) Wildlife Law Enforcement Division and partner agencies will host a media event at at Beatty’s Ford Park to launch Operation Dry Water, during the July 4 weekend.

- U.S Coast Guard Auxiliary
- Iredell County Sheriff’s Office

- Catawba County Sheriff’s Office
- Cornelius Police Department
- Lincoln County Parks and Recreation
Law enforcement agencies that participate in Operation Dry Water are asked to increase BUI enforcement during the targeted enforcement weekend of Operation Dry Water, July 4 – 6, as well as work with their local media, businesses and recreational boaters to spread the message and raise awareness of the dangers of boating under the influence during the heightened enforcement weekend and all year long.
