LC Styled: Elevate your festive wardrobe

Dec. 18. By Laura Cinotti. For me, the holidays are an official season marked on my calendar. Maybe it’s all the sparkle, the lights, the decorations, or holiday parties, but if I’m being truly honest, for me it’s the fashion. Shh, don’t tell anyone.

I love any and all excuses to dress up. In fact, my family has playfully nicknamed my favorite pastime as “Dolly Dress-Up Time.”

Not everyone feels the same way, and I completely understand. Sometimes picking the perfect holiday outfit can feel more like a chore than a celebration. So have no fear—your holiday style helper is here.

I’ve rounded up this holiday’s top trends and how to wear them. Whether your plans call for a casual girls dinner or a glamorous night out on the town, I’ve got you covered.

Metallics / Sequins

When I think of the holidays, sparkle and shine come to mind. This year, sequins, metallic knits, and liquid shine fabrics are having a moment. To incorporate this trend into your festive wardrobe, try pairing a shimmery top with faux leather pants or dark denim jeans for the perfect combo of sleek and modern.

If your heart is set on something a little bolder, go all in with a sparkly sequin dress. Let the dress be the star of the show and keep the rest simple—classic heels and understated jewelry will have you party-ready in no time.

Velvet

Velvet is the quintessential holiday fabric. It’s soft, rich, and instantly adds visual interest to any festive outfit. Try a velvet blazer in one of this season’s hot colors like deep burgundy or chocolate brown. Pair it with your favorite denim or a slip dress to kick up your festive wardrobe a notch.

Plaid

Plaid has made a major comeback, and I’m here for it. It’s returning in more untraditional ways—oversized blazers, slouchy pants, and bold colorways like marigold, electric blue, and rich plums.

For a festive plaid look, try a pair of plaid pants in a modern silhouette like a slouchy barrel or wide leg. Pair them with a simple top, a short‑sleeve sweater, or a classic white long-sleeve tee.

Bold Accents

If sequins and sparkle aren’t your thing, you can still feel festive by adding a bold accent. A faux fur jacket, a metallic bag, or a pair of bow‑embellished heels will instantly elevate any outfit from every day to effortlessly festive.

Sustainability

One of the biggest fashion trends this holiday season isn’t about what you wear, but how you wear it. Sustainability is in style. Shop your own closet, reimagine pieces you already own, or shop secondhand.

Some of my most treasured finds came from local consignment shops. And lastly, support your local boutiques—being eco‑conscious will always be on trend.

At the end of the day, the holiday season is about being with the ones we love—family, friends, and everyone who gathers at festive parties—but who says we can’t look cute while doing it? A great outfit just makes the moment that much brighter.
