Jazz Fest Returns to Smithville Park
The Cornelius Jazz Festival returns to Smithville Park on Saturday, May 16, bringing live music, food trucks and family activities to one of the town’s signature spring events.
The free festival, presented by the Town of Cornelius Parks and Recreation and the Smithville Community Coalition, runs from 6 to 10 p.m. and features an evening of local jazz performances, vendors and children’s activities.
The event continues its mission of blending entertainment with community connection in the heart of Cornelius.
This year’s music lineup includes regional and Charlotte-area acts performing throughout the night, continuing the festival’s tradition of spotlighting local jazz talent on an outdoor stage.
Live Musical Performances
6:10-7:45 p.m.: Tawanna Shantel & Soultri’ Band
8-10 p.m.: Eli Yacinthe
Food trucks will be on site offering a range of options, including barbecue, tacos, desserts and other festival fare, alongside craft beer and local beverages. Organizers say the mix of food and music is designed to create a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
The festival began in 2012 as a community fundraiser and has grown into an annual event supporting youth programs through proceeds benefiting the Smithville Community Coalition’s outreach efforts.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the performances on the park lawn. Pets, smoking, tents, large umbrellas and glass containers are not allowed.
Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Street parking is available along Catawba Avenue, and parking lots are located at First Baptist Church of Cornelius, Cornelius Library and Cornelius Elementary School. A free, ADA-accessible shuttle will run between Cornelius Elementary School and the event.
