Oct. 18. By Ryan Moxon. Hough came out of the locker room following a slow start Friday night against South Meck and put 21 points on the board en route to a 42-10 drubbing.
The Huskies silenced Sabres senior running back Quinn Rucker, who was averaging 106 yards rushing and another 46 yards receiving going into the game. Rucker managed just 13 yards on the ground and seven through the air.
Hough, now 8-0 on the season, scored seven points in the first quarter and added 14 in the second to take a 21-3 lead into halftime, but the second half was all Huskies on homecoming night.
Junior Ethan Royal continued his stellar season as a dual threat quaterback, rushing for a game-high 88 yards and adding 187 passing yards while completing 16 of 27 attempts. Sophomore running back Jamarion Morrison rushed for 59 yards, and senior Jayden White tallied 105 receiving yards.
The Hough defense, led by sophomore linebacker Ryan Peterson’s eight tackles, stifled South Meck all night, allowing just 207 total yards of offense.
With the win, the Huskies move into a tie atop the Greater Charlotte 7A/8A Conference with Myers Park, which beat West Meck 42-0 on Friday night.
Hough travels to Charlotte this Friday for a game against Myers Park that will likely decide the conference champion. The Huskies finish the season the following week at home against 3-5 Garinger, while Myers Park travels to South Meck.
