Oct. 25. Ryan Moxon. Hough ran away late against Myers Park on Friday night to move to 9-0 on the season and set up a matchup with 4-5 Hopewell this week to seal a conference championship title.
The Mustangs put three points on the board after a scoreless first quarter for both teams. The Huskies quickly responded with a 20-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Ethan Royal to junior wide receiver Jahmere Anderson, and never relinquished the lead.
Myers Park added another field goal in the third quarter to move within one point, but Hough answered with three touchdowns in the final 10 minutes for a 28-6 win.
Royal completed 14 of 20 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Anderson. Senior wide receiver Jayden White led all receivers with 75 yards through the air. Four Huskies finished with double-digit receiving yards.
On defense, senior defensive end Will Berlin recorded a sack, and senior defensive back Samari Matthews added an interception.
Hough will look to finish the regular season undefeated when it hosts Hopewell on Thursday night. The game was moved up to avoid Halloween on Friday.
