Oct. 30. By Ryan Moxon. Hough wrapped up a 10-0 undefeated regular season Thursday with a 56-0 win over Hopewell on a cool, windy evening at Hough High School.

The Huskies scored 21 points in the first quarter despite having two early touchdowns called back on penalties, including a negated 96-yard run by sophomore running back Jamarion Morrison. A few plays later, junior quarterback Ethan Royal connected with senior wide receiver Jayden White on a 55-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring.

Morrison added a 16-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter. Hough pulled away in the second, putting up 35 points with scores from junior running back Kynis Tinnin, senior wide receiver Kaden Hornesby on a 55-yard punt return, and junior linebacker Tyran Marsh on a fumble recovery.

Senior running back Marvin Reed added a 5-yard rushing touchdown to end the half, and the defense opened the second with a pick-six.

Following the game, head coach DeShawn Baker, was proud of his team’s season but stressed the most important part is still to come.

“It was a great and fun regular season but now the real season begins,” he said. “We plan on taking it one game at a time. We want to go 1-0 each week.”

Hough was one of only 18 undefeated teams in the state entering this week’s slate of games. The Huskies now await playoff seeding on Monday, with first-round games set for next Friday.
