Girls soccer
Hough extended its winning streak with four victories last week: 4-0 against Pine Lake Prep, 4-2 versus Hoggard, 8-0 over Laney, and 7-0 against Butler. Junior forward Olivia Miller scored multiple goals in three games, while senior goalkeepers Elizabeth Rupert and Riley Pickels helped limit opponents to just two goals in five matches, including four shutouts.
Boys lacrosse
The Huskies posted their first loss of the season against The Blue Ridge School (Va) by a score of 6-5. The team rebounded a day later with a 14-9 defeat of Rabun Gap (Ga), highlighted by six goals and one assist from sophomore attackman Noah Sheridan, and a gutsy defensive performance led by junior long pole Rocco Mozzone. Hough added a 12-1 win on Tuesday night against Northwest Guilford to post a 4-1 record.
Softball
Hough rebounded after its first loss of the season, a 4-2 defeat to Mooresville last Thursday, by winning two games this week. The Huskies shut out West Forsyth 2-0 on Tuesday, with senior pitcher Payton Elwell striking out 14 and scoring one of the runs. Hough then rolled to a 15-0 victory at West Mecklenburg, scoring 15 runs on just four hits while going the entire game without striking out.
Baseball
Hough improved to 4-2 overall with a 4-1 stretch since its season-opening loss to East Forsyth. The Huskies have scored in double digits in three of those wins: 12-1 against New Hanover, 11-2 against Ashley, and 12-1 versus West Mecklenburg. Thursday’s 7-1 win over Cox Mill marked another convincing performance. Their only setback in that span was a 5-4 loss to Laney.
