July 25. The Lake Norman HarborHippos’ playoff run came to an end last night with a 14-0 no-hit loss to the Pineville Porcupines at Jack D. Hughes Park in Pineville.

Pineville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back, adding three runs in the fourth inning and four runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings.

Porcupines pitchers Zach Gaydos and Garrett Long combined to throw a no-hitter in the second round playoff matchup. Gaydos walked five and struck out eight over six innings. Long completed the no-hitter, walking three and striking out six in three innings of relief.

The HarborHippos wrapped up their inaugural season in the Old North State League, a wood-bat collegiate summer league with four divisions across North Carolina.
