An online fundraising effort is underway to support the family of the Cornelius man who died last week on Lake Norman. The victim, Josh Scribben, leaves behind a wife and one-year-old child. The family lives on Henderson Road.

The GoFundMe campaign was launched by Kalie Herman, a longtime friend of the family. As of Friday afternoon, the campaign had raised $12,000. The organizers are hoping to raise tens of thousands of dollars to help defray end of life services and lost income to support the family. Click here to donate.

The GoFundMe reads:

On behalf of everyone who loves Michelle, Josh and Kole we are asking for support during this extremely difficult time.
On March 11, 2026, Josh Scribben unexpectedly passed away in a devastating accident on Lake Norman. He left behind Michelle Scribben, his wife and devoted amazing life partner of 23 years, along with their sweet one year old son, Kole. Michelle and Josh have worked so hard their entire lives and since the birth of Kole have been driven and dedicated to making his life fulfilled.
As Michelle faces the days ahead, she is carrying both the crippling weight of grief and the sole responsibility of caring for Kole. We want to lift some of that weight from her shoulders. Every little bit of monetary assistance will help ease the financial restraints Michelle is about to endure of being a single mom on one income. This will help assist with funeral costs, living expenses, childcare, and giving Michelle the time and stability she needs to heal.
Thank you for surrounding her with love, generosity, and compassion during this heartbreaking time.
