The Annual Carolina Renaissance Festival is this Saturday.  Love to get messy? The Ada Jenkins Food Fight comes at you Saturday as well.  It will be a doggone awesome day with the 19th Annual All American Dog Show at Robbins Park. On Wednesday (a day off of school) come see the Art in the Park where children of all ages can learn, create, and be artsy. The Old Fashioned BBQ & Candidate Forum will be held on Friday, October 11 at Town Hall.  Come see what the candidates have to say.

Think Pink 5K

Davidson College’s Connor Eating House invites the public to participate in its first annual 5 kilometer “Think Pink!” run/walk to raise money for Earlier – Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Detection Test. This charity’s sole mission is funding research to find an early breast cancer detection test.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Play

This play is based on the beloved gothic short story by Washington Irving.  In the quaint village of Sleepy Hollow during 1790, stories of wonder and strangeness surround the legend of a mighty headless Hessian soldier.  Andrew Jackson State Park Amphitheater

 

Tuesday October 8

African American Warriors

Maurice Johnson will present his illustrated work on African Americans who fought for our county from 1770 to 1870. He has developed this presentation with his daughter. Boatyard Eats, Cornelius.

 

Wednesday October 9

Art in the Park

The Cornelius Arts Center will be offering Art in the Park on Wednesday, October 9, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Robbins Park playground, 17738 West Catawba Avenue. It’s a CMS holiday, so drop in for a fun-filled afternoon of free art projects! Children of all ages will enjoy creating fall-themed crafts while developing their artistic and social skills. Parent or guardian is required to stay on-site in the playground area.
