Events April 11 – April 14

This weekend is packed with family-friendly activities! Check out the Highland Games at Rural Hill—replete with bagpipes, food trucks and kid-friendly activities—Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The awesome Easter Egg Hunt at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church is Saturday morning, rain or shine. And in the afternoon, Hop Into Spring at Robbins Park. Lots of fun activities for the kiddos 2-4 pm.

Women’s Conference

Women invited to a conference on the theme “You Matter: Just Breathe!” Keynote speaker Amy Burkett, general manager of WTVI. 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at The Peninsula Club in Cornelius.

Friday, April 12

Family Event

Bring your toddlers and preschoolers for “A Morning With the Easter Bunny.” Enjoy crafts, snacks and photos. 10 a.m.-noon at the Cornelius Arts Center.

Art Show

Mooresville Arts presents the 41st annual SpringFest Show, a judged show and competition. Opening reception, 6-8 p.m. April 12 at the Mooresville Art Gallery. Show runs April 2-May 30.

Loch Norman Highland Games

Family-friendly event with highland dancing, bagpipe bands, games, kids’ zone, food, much more. April 12-14 at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville.

Davidson Chorale Concert

The Davidson College Chorale will perform its spring concert, “Elemental,” a paean to fire, water, air and earth. Free. 5 p.m. at Davidson College Presbyterian Church.

Jazz Concert

Pat Metheny and the Davidson College Jazz Ensemble will perform. 8 p.m. in the Duke Family Performance Hall at Davidson College.

Star Party

The Davidson College physics department and Society of Physics Students invite you to explore the wonders of astronomy and the night sky. Free. 6-10:30 p.m. at Davidson College.

Saturday, April 13

STEM on the Wing Day

Our expert bird team and partner science organizations will present exciting and interactive experiences. Free admission. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville.

Easter Egg Hunt

Community invited to an Easter egg hunt on the church lawn. Activities will be moved indoors if it rains. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius.

Meet Marina DelVecchio, author of “Dear Jane.” 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.

Hop Into Spring

Free, family event designed for ages 3-12. Enjoy crafts, egg-themed activities, balloon twisters, music, more. 2-4 p.m. at Robbins Park in Cornelius.

Author Visit

Davidson men’s basketball associate head coach Matt McKillop will join former teammate Ian Johnson for a discussion of Johnson’s forthcoming memoir, “The Bounce and the Echo: Dying to Love a Game.” 4-5 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.

Jazz Concert Series

Join us each Saturday in April for live jazz music from Johnny Conga and his Tropical Jazz Project, the Mike Zinna Trio, more. 5-8 p.m. at Veterans Park in Huntersville.

Easter Egg Hunt

Young Chamber Musicians Competition

Four of the nation’s most talented young chamber ensembles are invited to compete. 3 p.m. in Duke Family Performance Hall at Davidson College.
